Congratulations Helio!!

On this day, the whole wide world watches my city for the Greatest Spectacle in Racing on the World's Greatest Race Course for the World's Largest One Day Sporting Event. Can you tell I am proud to be a Hoosier?? I love the Indianapolis 500. It is so tradition filled, such an amazing place. It is so hard to explain to you how amazing this place really is...you really need to experience it for yourself.
And, there is no better time...we are celebrating 100 years. So, if you want to come and experience all that is Indy next year, let me know. I have a big house and we will find a place for you to sleep!

Jon + Kate and I don't care

I have never ever watched Jon + Kate Plus Eight. The thought of eight kids in the house makes me dream of wine in very large quantities. I am also not a big fan of creating these huge families via artificial means. I just don't think it is normal or possible to raise 5-8 kids at a time. People, that is a LITTER and animals who take care of their young for eight weeks have those, not humans.

So, the idea that these jokers are millionaires is hard enough for me to swallow because I think they are selling their family; but now I have to hear about their supposed extra curricular activities too?? If I were either one of them, I would be screwing around just to escape the shear noise that must exist in their house. Oh wait, their house is so freaking big they could get away if they wanted to and let the nanny handle the kids.

The THOUGHT of that woman giving ME parenting advise [She was on Oprah last week doling out "wisdom"] makes me taste a little vomit in my mouth. Isn't their 15 minutes up yet??

Farewell Wayman

I read this morning that former Oklahoma great and a first round pick by the Indiana Pacers, Wayman Tisdale died. He was 44 and had a cancerous turmor under his knee. He fought the cancer for two years; but yesterday his fight was gone.

I saw Wayman play as a kid. Being from Indiana, basketball stars are akin to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit! He was fantastic to watch--just magical. His smile lit up a room. He was on the 1984 Olympic team that contained some other great Hoosiers--Coach Bob Knight and IU star Steve Alford.

After retiring from basketball, Tisdale became a great jazz musician and came back to Indy to play at the Jazz Fest many times.

We will miss you Wayman. We will miss your class--which the Pacers have seriously been lacking--and we will miss your smile. Play for the Angels. I know they will love it.

AWOL Teresa

I spent the last week at sales conference in Florida. I know you all feel SO sorry for me. :) But, even though we go to Florida--it is an exhausting week. It the one week all year where Wiley colleagues from around the globe come in and we talk books and more books all week.

We have a great fall list--one I know is going to sell even in these economic times. Books are lifelines for people and I am happy to be a part of such a noble industry. I am especially excited about the college football book we have coming out by Craig James. It's called Game Day.
These are two of the rockstars on my sales team [mine as in the same one--not mine as I am in charge] Ashley and Angela. We are dressed up for prom night! Seeing your co-workers in something else besides jean capri's and flip flops is always fun!
