Have we all lost our minds??

My 10 year old is afraid he is going to get the swine flu, the Capital Improvment Board in Indy thinks we [as Colts season ticket holders and Indiana residents] need to pay a 10 percent ticket tax [among other taxs, including alcohol] because they are too &^%$ing stupid to manage their money and all of the Catholics are up in arms because Notre Dame has invited the President to speak at graduation and he said yes.

Let me handle these issue one at a time:

I understand the swine flu thing is serious; but scaring the bejeesus out of 4th graders isn't the way to handle it. Talk to them about hand washing at school and let their parents handle it. Really.

The CIB is in the hole and they think we should pay up. And I don't think so. I am done paying for that idiot mayor that Indianapolis elected and the whole bunch of morans we have representing us.

And, Notre Dame. What do you say there? The Capital of the Catholic Church in America has made a bold move and pissed some Catholics off. Let me start off by saying that I am Catholic, although I do not practice. I have attended a Lutheran Church [which is really Catholic Lite] for over 10 years. They have asked President Obama to speak at graduation--this is something they do with every President and he has accepted. They are also giving him an honorary
degree and THAT is where it gets a little touchy for the CC. In a nutshell, there is a document that says the CC can't give honors to people who oppose the views of the church and Obama does. So, speaking at graduation is one thing; the degree is another.

I, for one, think it is cool that the President always speaks at Notre Dame's graduation. And, if you are afraid of Obama, hearing his views is the best way to address your fear. Haven't you ever heard of keep your friends close and your enemies closer? If you want him to see your side of the coin, is shunning him the way to get him to do that? Not so much. People, treat the man with the respect that he deserves and show him why you believe your view is right. Don't make yourself look like an idiot.

So, graduation is on May 17 and Angels and Demons opens on the 15th--so it should be really fun around here. Add the track action to that, and you have another rip roaring May in Indy!!

BTW, track=Indianapolis Motor Speedway. You will hear alot about that. LOVE IT! I am a Hoosier after all!

Boys of Summer

This is a photo after the Parade on Opening Day. It was awesome--weather was great, in the 80s! Michael's team lost, but Mike had a nice crack to left field.

As you can see by this sign, our team is the Gamecocks. These boys are 9 and 10--you can just imagine where this leads. The coach--whom I love--let his son pick the team and he picked it based on the cool hats. They are cool, but I am still not fond of the name. And, because we are green, the league wanted to assign us Dick's Sporting Goods as the sponsor. OH NO! I put my size 7 down on that one. Can you imagine? Dicks and Cocks? OMG!

Michael is on the front row, to the right of the kid with his tongue stuck out. Why can't boys just smile for the damn picture?

Baseball season

So, if you look at my banner at the top of my blog, you will probably catch on to the fact I like sports--love them actually. But, MLB has never been my favorite. If I were to name a favorite team it would be the St. Louis Cardinals. They are Michael's favorite team and the one team he and I have seen together. But, truth be told, my favorite team is the team Michael plays on every summer.

I love little league baseball. Our town has a league through Cal Ripken and it is so much fun. I like watching the kids play, like seeing my friends and love fountain diet cokes and Warrior nacho's! [For the weight loss, the Warrior nacho's will probably have to go.]

Next Saturday is Opening Day and the parade. Bring on the boys of summer!

Confession

Do you ever have days where you feel like crap? Do you ever have days where you feel you aren't good enough? I have been having those a lot lately. And, since I am also a single mom, I have also had that feeling that I will never ever find someone for me. It sucks.

I don't even know how to try and figure that part out. I am clueless with the whole dating scene. And I am too independent for my own good!

I am practing yoga twice a week and trying to really watch what I eat. I would like to lose about 25 pounds--weight that crept up on me the past couple of years. [My ACL tear last year didn't help!]

And, I want to be clear that I am not writing this to solicit loads of comments about how wonderful I am; although I will take those. :) I am writing it because that is what I am feeling right now. I think it probably has something to do with my birthday coming up and then I will only have 365 days left of my 30s. But, whatever it is, it is something that has been bothering me lately and my blog is the one place I feel like I am write about how I really truly feel.

Back to Reality

Welcome to the Gun Show--Caladesi Island, Florida
Former Cheerleaders Still Rock!

I am back from my week at the beach. It was warm and sunny there. I wore shorts and flip flops. I swam in the Gulf of Mexico. Today it was 32 degrees and I wore a warm coat and Ugg boots. This is not right!!
Florida was nice this year. I didn't do much; which is kind of the point of vacation. I went with 11 other families, so there were loads of people to keep Michael busy and we even took a friend. Me trapped for 17 hours in a small car with two ten year olds. I drank alot. :)
Above are some photos on America's best beach--Caladesi Island State Park.
Enjoy!
